The Bible is so rich and each verse speaks volumes at different times in our life. This makes it hard sometime to pick a favorite. However, I have one and maybe you do also. And maybe your special verse carries a story like mine does.
Back in 1974 right after I have my heart to our Lord Jesus Christ, I was reading the Bible through for the first time. And there it was, a verse jumped off the page and into my heart as an anchor to my soul. It was Num.23:19-20.
I had been a drug addict with a serious drinking problem before that salvation night of Sept.4, 1974. Now, not only was I saved and forgiven but I knew God was calling me into the ministry to preach. The Father knew I would face difficult times. Those times when the church and personal friends would let me down. Times when it would be easy to become disillusioned with the "church thing" of Christianity. A time when the joy of salvation had waned and I would be ministering from a dry well.
But the Father prepared me for all of that. It would have been Nov. or Dec. 1974 when the Father placed a verse in my heart that I could always go back to. A verse that says no matter how much men may lie and turn away, no matter how many broken promises one faces, God will always be faithful and true. So for over 40 years, this special verse has been my anchor and stronghold.
Numbers 23:19-20 ESV God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? (20) Behold, I received a command to bless: he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.
