We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an endowment of power, subsequent to conversion, given by God to anoint the believer for sanctification and evangelism. It is our Biblical conviction and understanding that the Biblical supernatural charisma of the Person of the Holy Spirit is active within the Body of Christ until the coming of the Lord. Furthermore, we believe the development of the charismatic gifts ought to be encouraged under the guidance of God's Word and His called leadership.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience after salvation and endues the believer with power from on high to be a bold witness for the Father. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God, as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received subsequent to the New Birth.
When a person is lost the Holy Spirit is BESIDE him, convicting him of sin, judgment, and righteousness, (see Jn.16:8-11). When someone accepts Jesus Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit moves within him to live in his spirit man. When someone gets baptized in the Holy Spirit by our Lord Jesus Christ, (see Matt.3:11) the Holy Spirit comes UPON him. This is the same picture as been baptized in water, when dunked the water overcomes the person. The person being baptized in water is immersed in the water. The same is true in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the person is immersed in the Person of the Holy Spirit.
This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of power to be a bold witness. Gifts may manifest such as tongues but the evidence is power to be a bold witness. It is important that we note that just because someone is manifesting what seems to be a gift or gifts of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit does not mean that it is true nor does it mean that the person is saved. We know God's children, our spiritual brothers and sisters, by the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit, also known as the Character of God. We are not known by our gifts. It will be the false gifts that will deceive many in these last days. So instead of being "gift admirers" we are called to be "fruit inspectors."
1. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God, as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received subsequent to the New Birth.
2. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of power to be a bold witness as spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father for the empowering and maturing of the Christian with His accompanying gifts and fruit.
4. The Person of the Holy Spirit within us produces fruit for an internal work.
5. The Person of the Holy Spirit upon us produces power for external work.
6. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a requirement of Salvation nor can one receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit apart from salvation.
