In the name of Jesus, I renounce any secret society, ungodly group, club, organization, gang, brother or sister hood, I have been involved with, and I ask forgiveness for such involvement and I repent from my involvement in that group. In its place, I come in agreement with the Father and the Word of God that I am a child of God and belong to the family of God.

In the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, I by faith proclaim every curse against me null and void and declare every assignment the devil has against me because of a curse, or condemnation, cancelled.
By the spiritual authority I have by right of son-ship, I command every evil spirit involved with enforcing a curse against me, against my marriage, against proper relationships with my spouse and children, against my finances, against my health, against my home and property, and against my possessions, to be cast away from me now to roam in dry and arid places. We are called to be a people of prayer, (Communication and Communion with the Father)
One of the key focuses of our prayer should be for our country. I would like to share some thoughts about praying for the country in which you call home. These are basic truths of where we areas a nation and how to pray. OUR BASIC MORAL FOUNDATIONS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED: Psalms 11:3 ESV if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psalms 82:5 ESV They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. GOD STANDS FIRM: PROMISES TO BLESS A NATION WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD. Psalms 33:11-19 ESV The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. (12) Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! (13) The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; (14) from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, (15) he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds. AMERICA'S FALSE HOPE: WE THOUGHT OUR STRENGTH WAS IN OUR MILITARY. Psalms 33:16-19 ESV The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. (17) The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. (18) Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, (19) that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. GOD STANDS FIRM: THE CALL FOR REPENTANCE 2 Timothy 2:19 ESV But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity." IF THE LEADERS WALK IN THE PEACE OF GOD, THE PEOPLE WILL WALK IN THE PEACE OF GOD. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, (2) for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. WHY PRAY? SO WE CAN HAVE A PART IN REBUILDING THE BROKEN DOWN WALLS. Isaiah 58:12 ESV And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in. 1 Peter 5:5-6 ESV Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." (6) Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
Okay, you have crisis in your life, and what you have been doing is not working. Insanity, right, to do more of the same thing and expect different results. When I read Matthew chapters 6 and 7 about what our Lord said about worry, being anxious, faithless, and in fear, then it is insane to continue in that mode expecting things to get better, instead of walking in faith in God's Word. Let God our Father know your requests with an attitude of thanksgiving and not in fear and doubt. Sports are sports, but each sport has its own rules of operation. The same is true with prayer. In sports we cannot play golf with the rules for soccer. We need to know and operate in God's rules of engagement rather than our churches organization mode of operation. Tell me this: When people are first saved it seems like all their prayers are answered, but after being a Christian for a while answers to prayer seem to wane. Why? We need to walk again in child-like faith. As we get older in the Lord (not mature, just older), we seem to trust our Christian walk on the mental knowledge of the Word we have obtained instead of faith in the author of that Word. After being a Christian for a while we seem to rely on the faith and belief of others for us instead of our own faith and ability to believe. We are taught in our churches to place our Christian walk and faith in to the hands of the Pastor or an organization. We pay them to do our believing for us. Listen to the messages from our Pastors. We call those who attend church 3 times a week committed Christians and those who only attend Sunday mornings immature. This mindset needs to be re-evaluated because we need to ask those who come 3 times a week who are they committed to, the Lord or the church? This does not mean that everyone who comes 3 times a week is committed to a building or Pastor, nor does it mean that everyone who comes once a week is immature. But it does mean that whatever we do we need to be a people of faith in God and in His Word. Remember this. There are two great teachers, the Holy Spirit and repetition. When teaching the idea of "proper confession" sometimes we need to say the same thing over and over and over again until we really "get it" in our spirit-man. Sometimes we need to teach or to be taught something 21 times before we get it. It usually takes 21 days of hearing something to chance a habit or a mind set. Preachers somehow feel like they have to come up with a new message topic every week. The problem is that the people have not gotten the first thing that the preachers have taught internalized so that it has made a change. We need to get truth first within our mind and then deep within our inner man for it to make a change. We have Christians running around chasing the “something new” ministry. Get grounded in the old stuff first and then we will be able to discern the new stuff as to being Biblical or a repackaged New Age teaching. I love potatoes. I love potato salad, fried potatoes, French fries, baked potatoes and yes I even eat them raw. They are all the same thing as being potatoes, just prepared a little different. The same should be with the Word. Deliver it a little different but it should be the same Word. Proper confession of God's Word always begins with having the right word to confess. In praying the PRAYER OF CASTING OUR CARES UPON THE LORD we need to be a people with the right confession mixed with faith that God will do what He says that He will do. If we have a care problem and are distracted away from the Lord by those cares then we should read Matthew 6 and 7 over and over each day until it sinks in that we cannot change one hair on our head with our worry. God has not found us so spiritual and anointed that He has given us a special depensation to worry and fret over our cares. Do what it takes to get the Word in you and do not pray in fear, because that is not the prayer of faith. In doing this "Casting Our Cares" series I have listed certain KEYS to remember as we learn to cast our cares upon the Lord. So far I have listed these two KEYS...
PRAYER KEY: God knows and understands our current need and our current position better then we do. PRAYER KEY: The Bible is God speaking to us. We can and should cast all our cares upon the Lord because He cares for us affectionately. The Father watches over His Word to accomplish it. Today we will address the third KEY in learning to cast our cares upon the Lord. PRAYER KEY: In daily life we all will have plenty of opportunities to worry and fear if we want to do it: I guarantee that you had many opportunities to worry and fret over this last week. And I bet you took ample time with some of those opportunities. So let me ask you this. Did any of the worry, fear, or fret achieve anything, change anything, or help in any way? Did that worry, fear and fret give you some feeling of control over the situation and it's outcome? Matthew 6:25-27 ESV “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? (26) Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (27) And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Matthew 6:32-34 ESV For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. (33) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (34) “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. I have been raised up from a death bed three times now, in 1979, 2007, and 2009 when my heart stopped during a medical procedure. In each of these times I had received both negative and positive words from family and friends about my health. Of course we typically get warm feelings when we get the positive words and we typically get emotionally down when we get the negative reports. However, our victory does not depend upon either the positive or negative words of people. The words we get from other people need to align with the Word of God and be in agreement with the Holy Spirit. We need to confess our sin of worry and be filled with God’s Word and His promises. Our faith should grow through trials. If we do not respond correctly in trials then our faith can wane. We need the Word of God in us because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word. We cannot pray correctly without knowing the Word of God and the Character of God. James 1:2-4 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, (3) for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. (4) And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Romans 10:17 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. I have been in places and situations were I would have run away had I not gotten a Word from God that assured me He put me there for a season and for a reason. Sometimes the only word I would get is “There are hard trials ahead, but they are not meant to destroy you, or make you a victim, for your good." Philippians 4:6-7 ESV do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. We have been taking about how and why we should cast our cares upon the Lord. The key to walking a life of peace is having a life of faith. Everything we do needs to be "in faith." Even the things we have done naturally in our own strength and we could now do blind-folded. We don't need faith to do them, we need faith so that the Father gets the glory in it. I don't need faith to comb my hair by I need faith to please the Father and give Him the glory.
Once I practice this in the small things that don't seem to matter it will be easier to stand in faith when the big issues or the crisis comes. We are out on a limb in big trouble if we get in the habit of trying to exercise faith only when we are in a crisis and place of extreme need. It is like telling the Father that we can handle this thing called life on our own and we will call on Him when we need Him. This is definitely not a life of faith. Hebrews 4:2 ESV For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. PRAYER KEY: God knows and understands our current need and our current position better then we do: Our Father knows what we need before we ask. But we are still supposed to ask in faith. The cares of life are heavy. It is Scriptural to pray for strength while in trials, but it is unscriptural to pray for grace and strength to carry your load or cares. I have heard people pray this "Lord, give me strength to carry this burden I have been given." The Lord told us that we are to take His yoke upon us and that His burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 ESV Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." PRAYER KEY: The Bible is God speaking to us. We can and should cast all our cares upon the Lord because He cares for us affectionately. The Father watches over His Word to accomplish it. Jeremiah 1:12 ESV Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it." Do you need a good word from the Lord today? Then read your Bible and find out what God says about your situation. Ask the Lord to remind you to stand in the position of faith throughout the day. We all know this passage of Scripture from Psalms 37.
Psalms 37:4-7 ESV Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (5) Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. (6) He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. (7) Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! The word “commit” in Psalms 37:5 means “to roll.” We are to roll our way on the Lord. We need to obey the Word of God if we expect results in both the spiritual and physical realms. Would you like for me to pray for you? Do you expect me to come in agreement about what you need prayer for. Well the most common answer to those questions would be yes. And I would want you to pray for me and come in agreement with me concerning my prayer request. Someone might come up to you with an unspoken prayer request. They will say, “The Lord knows my prayer request.” You should tell that person “Then leave the request with the Lord.” This is not being mean or hateful. If we are going to pray for people we need to know what they are praying for. How can I come in agreement unless I know what they are praying for? They might be praying worry, fret, and fear. You don’t want to come into agreement with that. We know that in our daily needs we already have a promise and our prayer should be one of thanksgiving, even if we do not see the reality of our need. Matthew 6:31-34 ESV Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' (32) For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. (33) But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (34) "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Luke 12:22-26 ESV And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. (23) For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. (24) Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! (25) And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? (26) If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? There have been many times when I have preached that worry is a sin and someone would come up to me and say, “Oh pastor, I don’t have worry, I have Godly concern.” It is amazing how we can rename things like our emotions in order to justify our faithlessness towards God’s Word. Worry is a sin and it does reveal a lack of faith and trust in God and His Word. Therefore, it will affect our payer life tremendously. It is nothing new when I state that Christians undergo trials and are sometimes afflicted, brokenhearted, crushed, and depressed. We just want peace. How does God our heavenly Father respond to us in these times?
Psalms 34:18-19 ESV The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. The Lord knows the afflictions and trials of the believers and the Lord’s deliverance is ready for those who ask and surrender the cares upon Him. If we want deliverance we need to know that it does not come by our telling the Lord what He already knows. He knows we are hurting. It is not enough for us to know that God knows, understands, and cares for us. We must do what His Word tells us to do. Every distraction that keeps us from walking in the rest and peace of the Lord needs to be cast or thrown upon Him. Philippians 4:6-7 ESV do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 ESV casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. The things we fear and fret over nullify our prayers. We need to turn them over to the Lord. The Greek in 1 Peter 5:7 actually says to cast or throw them to the Lord. How do we know if we have turned these things over to the Lord? If we have fear and worry then the Lord does not have it because we have not given it over to the Lord by faith. If the Lord has received your frets, fears, and worries then you no longer have them. When we still have the frets, fears, and worries and are anxious we are trying to figure out a solution to the problem. God does not need to figure out a solution to a problem. If you can’t sleep or eat because of the constant thoughts of the cares then they have not been committed to the Lord, no matter how long or hard you have prayed. When we really, by faith, cast our cares upon the Lord it is a done deal. We don’t have to do the same ones over and over again. You said Father to let my yes be yes and my no to be no, but I have spoken to quickly in making vows, promises, or oaths to people. I ask forgiveness for broken promises, oaths, and vows to everyone whom I spoke these too. I speak in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ a God-blessing over everyone who received a broken oath, vow, or promise from me. I also take charge over every oath, vow, or promise that was spoken to me that was broken and unfulfilled, and I forgive those who spoke those promises.
I speak forth in the name and authority of Jesus Christ a complete severing from every occult, cord of bondage, or form of oppression, which has been established over me, or has been able to lay a stronghold in my thoughts, emotions, will, or body. I speak against any curse, vow, hex, spell, or, incantation assigned to me and my household. In the name of Jesus Christ I proclaim their works broken and nullified now. I release the blessings of God revealed by His Word and I declare liberty in all of my personhood. Any item I bought, any gift ever given to me, anything in my home which may be cursed or linked to the demonic or linked to faiths and beliefs that attack the Word of God, I ask in the name of Jesus Christ, for the curse on that article to be nullified and the link to that person or to the demonic to be severed. I speak by faith that it becomes clean to be used for the Glory of God. By the name of Jesus Christ I ask Father for the blood of Jesus Christ to wash over every article which is in my home and on my property and I ask for these things including myself to be blessed and purified under Your anointing work by Your Word, Your Holy Spirit, and by Your blood. If I have learn anything about proper effective prayer it is the fact that we need to know the Word in order to pray correctly.
Psalms 119:130 ESV The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
The Person of the Holy Spirit speaks the mind of God into our spirit man. We have this outer man, the body, which tries to dictate to us to walk in our flesh and be sense-ruled. The inward man or the soul needs to be re-educated with the Word of God so that we think, feel, and choose according to the will of God for our lives. The inner-most man is our spirit-man where the Holy Spirit resides. It is here in the spirit-man that the Word screams within us that we don’t need to be sick or broke or defeated. When walking in the PRAYER OF FAITH we are not to seek out personal opinion about our health, our spiritual walk, or our life of faith. The prayer of faith is not just speaking a lot of words hoping that God hears and moves on our behalf. The prayer of faith is a "homo-logo" (same word) or praying what the Father is saying. The prayer of faith doesn't start with us. The prayer of faith is echoing what we hear from the Father. Romans 8:11-13 ESV If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. (12) So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. (13) For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. I PRAY THE BLESSING AND PROMISE OF GOD'S HEALING ON YOU: THE PRAYER OF FAITH.
I declare the Word of God that says in Psalms 41:3 LORD, You will uphold us even on our sickbed; You will transform our bed of illness into health. I declare this over everyone reading this. Father, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I turn to You in all times, in sickness and in health, in good and in bad. But today I turn to You for help in my physical weakness. I declare Your Word Father that says in Psalm 107:20 that You issued, You released, Your command and have healed us; You have delivered us from our destruction. Father, You have sent Your healing Word to Your servant by the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ and the power of the Person of the Holy Spirit and I believe it and I receive it. In the Name of Jesus, I proclaim all infirmity and sickness be driven from my body. Dear Lord, You are the Just judge, Holy and True. You are the Most High God. It is You gives me life. You hold all power in your hands and I stand upon this truth. You are the Mighty One who carries the world, and is ruler over all the universe and the earth. I declare that it is You, Oh Most Blessed One, who is the giver of life. In You are only good things and I am in You. In You is mercy and love. In You is healing of every sickness. In you is freedom from all pain. Precious Lord, You love me so much. You were sent from the Father, sent to save me from destruction and present me as a spotless, pure body before the Father as His inheritance. You carry all knowledge and all power over my body, soul and spirit. I may know the symptoms Lord, but You see my inner most and know the root of my need. You Lord are my medicine. Your Words Lord are Truth and Life. Lord, by faith, I declare that You have turned my weakness into strength, my suffering into compassion, my sorrow into joy, and my pain into comfort for others. As Your servant I place all my trust in your goodness and in your faithfulness. I declare that I have been restored to full health, dear Father, for Your Name's sake and for Your glory. I confess all fear and doubt from this heart and declare it under the authority of Your Word, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, and may You, Lord, be glorified through his life. AMEN In June I published two books on hearing God's voice.
"Preparing Ourselves to Hear God's Voice" and 15 Ways to Hear the Voice of God". Hearing God's voice and communicating with Him is not natural, but supernatural, like our new spiritual birth. There are some practical applications I have learn from the Word of God that taught me how to do what the Word said I should be doing, "My sheep hear my voice and follow me." PRACTICAL APPLICATION: 1. Find a quiet undisturbed place. Our Lord Jesus called it a closet of prayer. That means you are to be alone. "Shut the door" refers to locking out every distraction and interruption! This includes the cell phone. Unless we are a first responder, none of us are so important to be held captive by our phones. Don't take your phones into your prayer time. 2. Kneel in the Lord's presence. Kneeling or laying are worship positions. You need not be uncomfortable but neither should you be lazy in prayer. Read Philippians 2:10-11 3. Focus: Make your mind stop its commotion and noise! Stop listening to the confused voices reminding you of duties, tasks and obligations. Silence them! Make a willful choice that your mind is not a noisy playground, but a sanctuary. Your mind is yours. Make it obey you. See it as an altar built to bring your acceptable sacrifice to the Lord. I'm not speaking about yoga. I am speaking about us practicing the Word of God. 2 Corinthians 10:5 "Bring it into subjection to Christ." Prov. 25:28 "He who has no rule over his own spirit is like a city with out walls." 1 Peter 1:13 "Gird up the loins of your mind." Take control of your thoughts! 4. Slow down! Relax! Refuse to be rushed in the presence of God. It won't come naturally because we don't like stillness. So work at learning to BE QUIET! Remember that if you cannot control your body, you cannot expect to control your spirit either. 1Th 4:11 KJV And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 1 Corinthians 9:27 ."..I keep my body under, and bring it into subjection..." 5. Refuse to go on to the next step until the body and mind have obeyed you. If they are not subject to your will, neither will the rest of your thoughts in prayer. If you cannot exercise authority over your own body and mind how will you exercise spiritual authority in prayer. If you cannot bring your own body and mind into subjection how will you wrestle with spiritual forces and win? 1 Thessalonians 4:4 ESV that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, These steps are difficult! That is because it is contradictory to our natural worldly driven lifestyles. Is it any wonder we do not hear the voice of God as we would like to? Though it is difficult, once mastered, this will bring great spiritual, emotional and mental satisfaction. Keep at it. A few minutes may not seem like, much but it seems an eternity when your are quiet and still before the Lord. Have you ever said things that you wish you hadn't?
Have your words ever hurt someone? Have you been hurt by words that cut deep into your soul? First, a few Scriptures about the tongue. 1 Peter 3:10 ESV For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; Colossians 4:6 ESV Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Proverbs 15:28 ESV The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. Matthew 15:11 ESV it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” Proverbs 26:20 ESV For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases. Proverbs 18:21 ESV Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 15:1-2 ESV A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (2) The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. James 1:19-20 ESV Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; (20) for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. If you have ever been on the cutting side of someone's critical, accusing, or condemning words you know that it hurts emotionally, mentality, and relationally. These words are seeds planted that if left alone to grow could cause a lifetime of pain. If we know how it feels to receive these types of words then we should be careful that we don't become a part of the problem and sow the same destruction which we have had the misfortune to receive. Therefore, we need to make a daily willful choice to pray about our words. Out of our mouth comes blessings or curses, life or death, and we speak from the abundance of the heart. PRAYER OF DECISION: Father, in the name of Jesus, I make the quality decision to take control over my words. I renounce every bad seed planted by the words of my mouth. I end the process of failure, sickness, lack, and fear. I choose to forgive those who seeded those things in my life and I renounce them now and place them and the power they have had over me under the blood of my Lord Jesus Christ. In the Name of Jesus I refuse to be held captive and be a victim by the words of others. I forgive and declare freedom. I speak the same freedom over those whom I hurt by my words. Lord, put a watch over my lips. I am determined to speak the Father's covenant promises; Words of love, words of joy, words of faith, words of peace, and words of grace, from this time on. I will fill my mouth with God's Word throughout the day, and He will have total control of my life. Amen---So Be It! Gen 19:27(ESV) And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
We all have testimonies of that special place were we met with the Father in a special way. Abraham had that place. In that special place the Lord told Abraham about His plans of destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, His plans for blessings Abraham, and His plans of giving Abraham a son of blessings from Sarah. All of these are described in chapter 18 when Abraham first went to the special place. It was in that special place that Abraham conferred with God and asked Him a hard question, "Lord, will You destroy the righteous with the wicked?" When we stand before the Lord in the special place and it becomes natural and normal to do so, the way we converse with the Father will change. Compare Abraham's intercession in Genesis 18 with our Lord's prayer time in the Garden in Matt.26:36-44. In the special place our prayers are deeper in intensity, longing to understand God's plan. We become more aware of not just God's love but God's hatred and judgment upon sin and the cost of it. In Gen.19:27 when Abraham went back to that special place where He had stood before the Lord, he lifted his eyes and his heart was weighted with sorrow and pain at what he saw. He witnessed the fulfillment of God's Word to him in the judgment of sin upon two cities. Gen 19:28(ESV) And he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the valley, and he looked and, behold, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace. |
