When we think about victory over sin the first thing we need to settle is "whose the boss?" Romans 6:14 ESV For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Most of the time before we can receive a blessing from God we have to know the promise of the blessing in the Word. This is not always the way it works, but for the most part we need to know the promise of the Word before we can get the blessing of the Word. My people perish because of lack of knowledge. Remember that verse? Hosea 4:6 ESV My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. We don't know what we don't know. Once we know God has given the promise we can choose to believe and pray until we receive. The same is true of victory over sin. Once we see such victory is scriptural we can choose to believe and pray until we receive. You may have heard this or even said or thought this yourself: “No one ever told me before that you could get victory over sin. I always thought that we just had to live with it. I thought we just had to grin and bear it when it comes to sin habits." After this teaching you will know that you can have faith for victory over any sin that has had a hold on you. It really is so simple and practical.” In my early Christian life I had been taught that all of us are sinners and Christ came to forgive us and bring us to Heaven. As Christians we cannot keep the commandments in the New Testament because of our sinful nature. The Commandments in the New Testament were written to show us our need of a Savior. As long as we are in this world we have to sin. After all no one is perfect. After hearing this hopeless message for years I began to dig into the Word of God for myself on this topic just to see what it actually says about my nature and inability to stop from sinning. To my amazement it was plain that the New Testament didn't teach what I had been taught. There was a great deal in the Word of God about having a righteous behavior. Then when I was in Florida teaching in the Holy of Holies ministry and on the 7 feasts I saw something very unique about the Day of Atonement. There were two goats used on the Day of Atonement. The one goat was slain and its blood sprinkled in the Holy of Holies, typifying the blood atonement made by the Lord Jesus on the cross, for the forgiveness of my sin. However, the second goat which was also a goat of atonement was left alive and led away into the wilderness. This was a picture or typified the removal of my sin. Now the sixth chapter of the Book of Romans makes sense. We are no longer under the law therefore we are no longer a master to sin or a lost sin nature. TO BE CONTINUED...

We live in crazy days. It is time for Americans to go back and reread the foundational truths of our founding fathers. Christians we know that we have spiritual freedom in Christ and that we are called to pray, which we should.
I wonder though: Were there any Christians in England that prayed and yet came to the new land to start a new way of life of freedom? I wonder: Were there any Christians that went to war against their former home land England for that right to have political, social, and religious freedom in this new land? I wonder: Were there any Christians that drew up and singed their names to the document we now as "The Declaration of Independence"? I wonder: What would these founding fathers say today if they saw what was doing on? I think I can answer that with a few lines within the document they signed. In reading The Declaration of Independence, we can know why it is under so much attack by the liberal controlling amoral group running Washington and our Country. THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE: When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world. MY SUBJECT TOPIC: I want to discuss Dr. King's statement "Riot is the language of the unheard". KING (interview): I will never change in my basic idea that non-violence is the most potent weapon available to the Negro in his struggle for freedom and justice. I think for the Negro to turn to violence would be both impractical and immoral. MIKE WALLACE: There's an increasingly vocal minority who disagree totally with your tactics, Dr. King. KING: There's no doubt about that. I will agree that there is a group in the Negro community advocating violence now. I happen to feel that this group represents a numerical minority. Surveys have revealed this. The vast majority of Negroes still feel that the best way to deal with the dilemma that we face in this country is through non-violent resistance I think that we've got to see that a riot is the language of the unheard. And, what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the economic plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. So that I would say that every summer we're going to have this kind of vigorous protest. My hope is that it will be non-violent. I would hope that we can avoid riots because riots are self-defeating and socially destructive. I would hope that we can avoid riots, but that we would be as militant and as determined next summer and through the winter as we have been this summer. OKAY: So in the interview Dr. King says that turning to violence would be impractical and immoral. He also said that those who chose to riot in violence is few and a minority. HOWEVER: He said that riot is the language of the unheard. This statement is a license to do what he said that he was against. RIOT DEFINED: According to dictionary A riot is a form of civil disorder commonly characterized by a group lashing out in a violent public disturbance against authority, property or people. Riots typically involve vandalism and the destruction of property, public or private. The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved. Targets can include shops, cars, restaurants, state-owned institutions, and religious buildings. Riots often occur in reaction to a perceived grievance or out of dissent. Historically, riots have occurred due to poor working or living conditions, governmental oppression, taxation or conscription, conflicts between ethnic groups, (race riot) or religions (sectarian violence, pogrom), the outcome of a sporting event (football hooliganism) or frustration with legal channels through which to air grievances. While individuals may attempt to lead or control a riot, riots typically consist of disorganized groups that are frequently "chaotic and exhibit herd behavior." Why did I post this: Because violence seems to be the forst response in America to anything we disagree with, injustice we feel, or circumstance we find ourselves. Rioting is not limited to a specific race, religion, creed, ecomonic status, or gender. There are those prone to be violent and there are those who are easly swayed by the mob herd mentality, who would do with others what they woould never do alone. We need to educate all people as Dr. King was attempting to educate black people that rioting is not only NOT the answer but a display of chaotic insanity. We wonder why our first responders, police force and other public servants have backed away somewhat. Rioting is the answer. When a spirit of violence blows across a land, people will cast aside moral restraint and common sence and use any reason of disagreement to bring disorder, chaos, and civil unrest. This is America folks, the land of the free and the brave. Let us not misuse those blood-bought traits to do injustice and lawlessness and then say we had a right to do it. Freedom abused is bondage. Walking in freedom is not necessarily the same as being free. I can have national freedom in the USA and still be bond up or be a slave to habits, my thoughts, my feelings, a bad relationship or a sickness or affliction.
Romans 8:2 ESV For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. From time to time we all battle something in the flesh with our bodies. It could be something as simple as the common cold or as serious as a bum heart or a disease such as cancer. I know that over the last 40 years I have had my share of physical ailments, afflictions, and diseases. These include... Broken: toes, fingers, tailbone, 5 right ribs, 2 left ribs and my complete rib cage. Surgeries: open heart surgery, 2 left shoulder surgeries, left and right knee surgery, along with some minor things the doctors had to sew up. Diseases: (Current issues) Heart disease (ASD, LBBB), Lung disease (Chronic Bronchitis, COPD, Asthma), Bladder problems, Kidney problems, Arthritis, Blown discs in lower back, Pinched nerves in neck, Neurofibromatosis, Torn rotator cuff right shoulder, Awaiting complete left shoulder replacement, Awaiting heart CRT, and last but not least, traumatic brain Injury. Okay, these are some of the things I have lived through and some I still face daily. We as believers are called to be a people of faith. If we are people of faith then we need to confess faith. Sometimes we can be so overcome by the things we go through that we lose perspective of being a faith people. I asked a person to write out his testimony for me recently. The points of a testimony are: 1. My life before Christ. 2. How I realized I needed Christ. 3. How I met Christ 4. How my life has changed since meeting Christ. He wrote about two pages on point number one about how bad he was and the other three points he covered in a short paragraph. This is glorifying sin and the enemy. I told him to reverse it. Spend one paragraph on point one of his life before Christ and then two pages on the next three points. The same can be true about sicknesses, ailments, afflictions, and diseases. We can spend one minute talking about faith and then one hour talking about how sick and broken we are. The Law of the Spirit of Rom.8:1-2 is a faith confession and a faith walk. I am determined to not only live until the Lord is done with me but I am determined to live healthy until He is done with me. I will not die broken down, diseased and held together with bubblegum and bailing wire. Now, my current circumstances tell me something different. My body screams at me in pain. Those who read my list above would agree that my body is broken in the natural realm. However, this is not my focus nor my end. There was a day, on a hill, on a cross, outside a city, that a man, yea more than a man and never less than God, carried my pain, my afflictions, my disease, and everything that can attack my body upon Himself. I daily appropriate that FACT! As a believer I transcend the natural laws established by God for mankind under the Law because as a Spirit-filled believer I am a spiritual man filled with the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit. That means that the natural laws God established has to be subject to and submissive to the Law of the Spirit that dwells in me. When Philip baptized the Eunuch in Acts chapter 8, Philip when he come out of the water, was transported by the Holy Spirit about 21 miles away. In the Law of the Spirit Philip transcended the laws of gravity, time and space. By faith I confess this same authority in, through and over my body. I pray the same for you and your family. |
